Meet your Lynchburg, Virginia Photographer

I’m Liz! I am a professional birth, baby and family photographer living in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

With over 18 years of experience behind the camera, I’ve had the honor of capturing some of life’s most meaningful moments for families around the country. But what truly drives me isn’t just creating beautiful images—it’s building genuine connections with my clients. The heart of my work is to help you see the strength, beauty, and love that make your story uniquely yours.

I began my photography business in 2006 with a passion for connecting with others and an eye for authentic emotion. Whether it’s through heartfelt conversations during a session or images that speak louder than words, I strive to provide more than just a gallery of photos—my team and I work hard to deliver an experience that uplifts and celebrates you and your family. My clients often say they feel cared for and seen throughout the process, and to me, that’s the highest compliment.

Beyond photography, I wear another cherished hat: homeschooling mom to my two amazing daughters. I view this role as a full-time calling, one that requires just as much heart and dedication as my business. Balancing motherhood and work isn’t always easy, but my priority remains with my family. This grounding principle shapes the way I approach my business—with care, intention, and a deep appreciation for the families I get to serve.

Whether I’m sharing my story with fellow entrepreneurs or enjoying quality time with my family, I am both present and passionate about capturing love and celebrating life.

Thank you for trusting me to tell your story—it’s a privilege I’ll never take for granted.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Some fun facts about me:

This is my family! My husband Tommy, our oldest daughter, Sunday, our youngest girl, Izzie, and our sweet new baby boy Breckinridge. We also have Charis, our beautiful weimaraner, and sweet bunny we call Dynamic.

  • My husband and I are big Mad Men fans and our youngest daughter was named after the actress who portrayed Betty Draper. (Also, I love mid-century history and style!)

  • In 2014, I took my family with me on my third non-profit assignment to Nepal for Allow The Children ministries. Traveling for non-profit work is an amazing opportunity I'll never take for granted!

  • My first ever job was at Kings Dominion when I was 15 years old.

  • I am an avid, and long-term (10 yrs now?!), Powersheets user and credit them for any of the goals I have achieved in my life! I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to see changes in their own life!

  • I’m a little crunchy and prefer my home and body products be as non-toxic as possible. My babies wore amber teething necklaces and cloth diapers and at one point I was washing our laundry with soap nuts. No joke! Although, they are kind of a joke. I don’t recommend them if you like your clothes clean. :)

  • I was raised in a small town my whole life and I swapped one small town for another about 20 years ago. I love where I live. Country roads at sunset make my heart skip a beat!

  • I’ve had a lifelong dream of one day homeschooling my children and it’s one of the best things 2020 brought us. We are now a homeschooling family and proud of it!

The Liz Cook Photography Team

Hopefully it goes without saying, but the success of LCP would not be possible without the support of my family and the incredible members of our team. Meet the superstars of LCP who help keep the wheels turning around here so that I can better balance my roles as mom, homeschooler, wife, friend, and business owner! I don’t know what I would do without them!

Kasey

Kasey is our dedicated Studio Administrator! When you inquire through the website, you will receive a wonderful greeting from Kasey! She is the lady behind our booking system and helps enhance your client experience in a variety of ways. She is a fast learner and a hard worker who truly loves inviting you into our LCP family!

More importantly, Kasey is a mama of two wild, but almost always happy, children. She loves to spend time with her family outdoors (as often as possible!), baking, growing flowers, and reading in her free time. She loves to travel with her husband and hopes to spend the rest of her life exploring all that the world has to offer!

Ashley

Ashley is our Studio Ambassador Extraordinaire! If you’ve been to the studio for our popular Santa sessions, you’ve likely met Ashley.

She is a proud mama to three tow-headed kiddos and married to an Army guy. She loves quality photography, baking delicious cakes, and sneaking away to hotel rooms on her own. She’s a smart mama, if you ask me! :)

Ashley helps around the studio in a variety of ways and is always ready to serve others. She’s a gift to our team!

Charis

Charis is our 8yr old silver Weimaraner and she was affectionately dubbed the Official Studio Assistant! She basically lays around and looks pretty all day bringing joy to those who get to spend time with her! She is loveable, a major snuggler, and super silly. Her energy level is high but she knows how to find her calm when necessary. She’s our favorite dog in the world!
