Transitions, changes, routines!

We are in a great season of change, friends! Last week it was snowing and today it is 81 degrees outside. And the weather isn't the only thing changing around here! As of Monday I confirmed our new summer interns for Sincerely, Liz, Inc, and yesterday, I built two new desks for the office. Actually, I was able to build two desks for the office because Sunday was gone for eight hours at her first full day of out-of-home child care. *gasp* I can't believe she is attending child care out of the home (something I never, ever though I would say as a mama). That's a whole post for a whole other day... so I'll spare you that giant paragraph of emotions for right now.

But, yes. Lots of changes happening right now.

Actually... as I type I am literally watching the clock completely perplexed that I have time to write this blog post because Sunday should have woken up from her nap about 11 minutes ago. But, we're also in the middle of transitioning from two naps a day to one nap a day and... what is this? She's sleeping more than two hours?? I guess this is to be expected, yes?

So... all this to say, there's more to come, friends! The shooting season has officially kicked off. I had a beautiful country engagement session last weekend and it was the first of many sessions and weddings to come! Our first wedding of the spring season is in just a few weeks and then we take OFF! The blog will be busting with gorgeousness and lots of regular posts! And... the new website will officially be launched on my BIRTHDAY....! Yeahhh! How fun is that?! So please hang in there with me!

Oh... and Tommy & I will be celebrating our anniversary in just a few days and I am praying about sharing something pretty special with you guys. I'm not the best with words, so hopefully what I want to say will come out right and God will help me share His amazing grace the best way I know how. <3

Okay... here is a fun sneak peek of a session I'm working on right now... the sweetness of a precious newborn never ceases to amaze me! <3

Happy Snow Day! (Also, it's almost April?!)

This snow came out of NOWHERE. Seriously... no mention of 6-8 inches of snow anywhere! (In my interactions, anyway.) But, I'm not complaining. :) I love snow and we have had hardly any snow days this year! At least none that really lasted more than a day or so. I am glad old man winter showed his face one last time before spring really kicks in! Love! I snuck outside during Sunday's nap time yesterday and grabbed a few quick shots of the snow while standing in our front yard. And let me tell you... I've never missed my 100mm macro lens as much as I have these past few weeks! Snow, spring blossoms (and in the same week... only in Virginia!), and newborn sessions galore! How beautiful these images would have been with such fine detail. It's okay, though. I am excited to have one in my bag as wedding season kicks in in a few weeks. For now, I'm making do with what I've got. :)

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from yesterday:

An Elegant Garden Party | Style Shoot

So last week I introduced you to Amanda and her team from Ashley Baber Weddings. Today, I would like to share a peek into the beauty that can unfold when a wedding designer teams up with this area’s finest vendors for your wedding. This was a beautiful set up at Bliss: A Fine Wedding Fair. You are looking at the incredible talent of Amanda Gray (stylist), Amy Thornburg (florist), and Jennifer England (cake artist). Are they not an incredible trio?! And they are all local to Lynchburg. So beautiful.

Ashley Baber Weddings | Professional Wedding Planners

Earlier this winter I had the pleasure of getting together with the ladies of Ashley Baber Weddings (the Virginia team) at Blenheim Vineyards in Charlottesville, VA. We spent some time walking the grounds of the Blenheim Vineyards while Amanda gave us the unofficial tour of one of her favorite wedding venues. It is such a beautiful location! The view behind the winery is incredible and I’ll be sharing more pictures of the grounds with you all later this week. Ashley Baber Weddings is a group of talented and experienced wedding planners serving Southeastern US. Amanda heads up the Virginia office (they have offices in Atlanta, Virginia and Charlotte!) and works regularly with Allie and Emily throughout Central Virginia. These ladies absolutely love what they do and they do it very well. I have such respect for wedding planners, designers and coordinators because while my job on the wedding day is to do my best to capture the day while also pleasing the couple and their attendants, it is a planner’s job to make everyone happy. This includes the bride and groom, their families and attendants, and all of the industry partners who are a part of the day as well! I'm not the only one who thinks these ladies are working magic every weekend, though. Check out what others are saying about them, and more importantly, check out their client's testimonies on their website.

I’ll be writing later this week about the benefits of hiring a wedding planner. But for now, check out the beautiful ladies who make up the Ashley Baber Weddings team here in Virginia!

First, meet Amanda:

And Allie:

And Emily:

What a beautiful team!

Professional Head Shot Mini Sessions | Fredericksburg Portrait Photographer

The professional headshot mini sessions I did a few weeks ago were such a hit that I am planning another mini session day for my clients in Fredericksburg! I’m excited about the opportunity to see some of my past clients again, but, I also have really enjoyed shooting something a little different. Shooting head shots is refreshing change of pace and I’m looking forward to that again! If you are a small business owner or a local professional, you are likely in need of some fresh new headshots for yourself! Professionals use these pictures to attach to their resumes, on the about page of their websites, and some use them on their business cards (real estate anyone??). It’s always good to have an updated portrait of yourself and now is a great time to make that happen!

Check out the details below and contact me for more info if you’re interested in booking a mini session!

Here are a few of my favorite headshots I’ve done recently:
