Forest, Virginia Newborn Photographer A Sweet Growing Family Session

What's better than getting to see your best friend's baby right after he is born (considering they live 8hrs away)? Getting the chance to photograph the whole family, of course! I absolutely adore this family and the dynamics they share.  And they were all soooo in love with baby Raphael, especially big sister Penelope!

Here are a few of my favorites from our time together.

Ready to book your newborn session? I am already reserving sessions as far out as August 2017. Newborn sessions are best scheduled between 8-21 days old during the hours of 10AM-2PM. If you have waited until the last minute, please contact me - if I am able to fit you in, I will! I don't want you to miss out on the opportunity to have this short and sweet season of life documented. Lynchburg Studio Photographer First Newborn Session In The Studio

As my birth photography business began really growing, I started receiving more and more requests for maternity, newborn, and baby portraits. I wanted to figure out a way I could streamline and systemize these types of sessions. I started looking at studio spaces outside of my home and let my imagination really run wild!

Fast forward a few months without many decisions made; Stephanie contacted me about shooting her newborn session. However, she mentioned that they were in the process of moving and they didn't have a space available to shoot in. I had to brainstorm - quick! I decided to give my own space a try, grabbing a few extra tools at the very last minute to help manipulate the light as best as I could.

Luke & Rebecca | A Glencliff Manor Engagement Session

Lucas and Rebecca met at Liberty University and their love story is simply beautiful. They have incredible chemistry and were so much fun to photograph. I had the honor of photographing their wedding this past weekend, which I absolutely cannot wait to share with you. But first! Their engagement session on the grounds of Glencliff Manor! It's not very often I encourage a late-winter session. For one, the trees are just.... drab. And two, it's super chilly!!! But these two kept things warm with their flirting and dazed-in-love eyes. The epitome of newlyweds (to be)!

I love the way these came out and I credit Rebecca for the extra details you see - her adorable felt hat, the cozy plaid blanket, and the touches of her wedding colors! The tiniest accessories can do SO much to a final shot which makes all the planning ahead SO worth it! Also, a HUGE thanks to the staff at Glencliff Manor for letting us romp around on the grounds for this session!!

Sooooo sweet, right?! Love these guys! I can't wait to share their entire wedding with you!!

David & Britney | A Lynchburg Engagement Session

My baby brother is ENGAGED!!! Ahhh! I have to admit, I wasn’t sure I’d ever be making this announcement! But... man... I am so excited! We ADORE his fiancé, Britney.... she compliments him in all the right ways! And she has shown such love and dedication to him while he was finding his way these past few years. It’s amazing to see him in such a good place after all he has been through in life!

They came down to Lynchburg this past weekend to help celebrate my birthday and we squeezed in a quick engagement session while they were here. It was a sunrise session and the only other person who is (ALWAYS) awake in our house at that time is Sunday - and she wanted to come along!! It was so much fun having her there with me, although she definitely tried to take the lead a few times.

“I gotta a good idea! One of you looks at mama, and then the other looks at me!”

I was cracking up. Monkey see, monkey do, I guess! :) Poor thing gave up after a little while when we all had to ignore her in order to really get the job done... but it was so much fun to have her along with us!

Congratulations David and Britney!!! We are SO EXCITED for you guys and cannot wait to see where God leads you in the upcoming years!! Your wedding day can’t come soon enough!

Roanoke Memorial Birth Photography | Brand New Baby Session

Each time I meet with a prospective birth client, we go over all the details and the "what-if's." One of these questions is What if I Miss Your Birth? I remember my own experience, when we were planning a home birth, and my midwife sat us down at an appointment and said "Now. This paper has instructions on what to do if the baby gets here before I do. Let's discuss." And my jaw dropped, you guys! Because what?! Why would you miss the birth? I quickly realized that it is a complete possibility... otherwise women wouldn't be having babies in parking lots and riding down highways all the time! Am I right?

So when this Roanoke mama booked me for her birth she was planning to have here in Lynchburg, we had the same conversation. When the birth day came, Erin texted me throughout the day saying she was "having false labor contractions." I remember reading that and thinking she must be in denial because usually one doesn't label contractions false until they stop! Erin kept in touch and after a few hours she let me know she would definitely be heading to the hospital soon. I was getting ready, putting my girls down for the night, and waiting patiently for that "we are on the way" phone call.

Finally after a few hours, I was a bit concerned and tried to call her. About five minutes after I didn't get an answer, Erin's husband called me. Their sweet girl came before they could get in the car! Oops! (Right at their front door... they were really trying to leave! Haha!) What a story!

We quickly discussed their options and decided since they were over an hour away, it would be best if I came the next morning to photograph their sweet girl and her big sister. Below are a few of my favorite pictures from our time together. Big sister was just SO smitten!
