I guess it was a little over a year ago I ran into Cheryl from 4thGenerationDesigns at a local, in-person craft/etsy show. I immediately LOVED her products. Of course I dropped the tiny fact that I was a photographer and I'd love to use her sweet headbands and hats on my little subjects. Soon after meeting, we reconnected and Cheryl sent me some goodies to play with. Little Brooklyn was my first model.
Bliss: The Venue Tour
Yesterday, I shared a link on my Facebook page about Bliss: The Venue Tour. Someone posted a comment suggesting the event was only for brides planning weddings - and I immediately felt the need to clarify! It's for anyone who wants to come! Wether you are planning an event (and definitely not just a wedding) or not, everyone is welcome come out for yummy food, great networking, and of course a professionally processed self-portrait from the Lynchburg Snapshot Studio booth!
I am genuinely excited about Bliss: The Venue Tour.
Halloween 2013
I can honestly say I never, ever thought I'd be typing a blog post with that title. You see, we're just not huge Halloween fans around here. I LOVE costumes and dressing up. But that's basically the extent of our enthusiasm. Tommy doesn't appreciate the money I pour into my costumes (he wasn't allowed to celebrate the holiday as a child), I don't appreciate the piles of candy I assume will be piling up in our future, and neither of us love the idea of spending the evening with ghosts and goblins. (Or zombies? And vampires?)
But my parents are in town this week and they were enthusiastic about Sunday Trick-or-Treating for the holiday.
Our DIY Kitchen Renovation
I don't quite remember when it happened but, I want to say at least 4 or 5 years ago, our microwave died. At first it was inconvenient. But I had been hearing about the dangers of microwaves through the grapevine so I figured we'd just let it go and adjust to a new way of living. No, seriously. We really had to adjust our lifestyle! I think there was a year or so when we didn't bring home any leftovers from restaurants. I honestly didn't know how to reheat them successfully. Then, somewhere along the way we started making use of our toaster oven which proved to be very helpful. (And of course I learned you can reheat pasta on the stove. Score!) Over time, we didn't miss having a microwave at all.
2013 Pursuit 31 Conference | Virginia Wedding Photographer
The last time I went to a retreat designed specifically for Christian women creatives was the Be Thou My Vision Retreat back in March of 2010. I was in the midst of a dark season of life and Tommy had justleft for his first deployment. I had a very real feeling that God was not leading me to the retreat, but I went anyway. And while it was a beautiful, luxurious, and life-changing experience... I faced some tough things the months surrounding the trip. I just shouldn't have gone. It drained me.
So, when word of the Pursuit31 Conference started floating around social media last year, I avoided it like the plague.
