One of my goals for 2015 is to document my own family more often. In order to ensure this happens, I made a point back in January to clear four days on the calendar this year to photograph a few Day In The Life sessions of my own family. The pictures below are the result of my first attempt at documenting a day in our life.
Our days are all so different. Four days a week, Tommy is gone before we wake and doesn't return until just before the girls' bedtime. One day a week I am often gone all day shooting a wedding. Two days a week we have together as a family, but one of those days is always a Monday... which means it is spent running errands and tackling meetings and appointments that aren't able to be taken care of over the weekend. That said, no two days are alike for us. That's the main reason I hope to do this project a couple of times a year... just to capture the variety in our lives.
On this particular day, Tommy was actually out of the state on a business trip. I was interviewing nannies for the upcoming wedding season and had also planned a girl's night in with my friend Megan. I used a combination of the self-timer, taking pictures myself and having Megan capture a bit of our day at the end. I learned a lot from this first attempt and will be adjusting my approach for the next time around. More to come about those lessons in a future blog post.
Until then, enjoy a little glimpse into our day! :)
