The first 100 days... the fourth trimester... the early days of postpartum. All of these refer to the first three months of life with a newborn who is adjusting to the world outside of the womb. (And a mama whose body is trying to find balance between pregnancy and normalcy.) This is a trying time... a bittersweet season of minimal sleep and a lot of questions. Yes, there are hours of gazing in admiration of your sweet babe and sharing this love with your family and friends. But, sometimes these three months are harder than you expect.
A Day In Our Life | May 2015
One of my goals for 2015 is to document my own family more often. In order to ensure this happens, I made a point back in January to clear four days on the calendar this year to photograph a few Day In The Life sessions of my own family. The pictures below are the result of my first attempt at documenting a day in our life.
The truth about the beauty of birth
Mamas, let's chat.
As a birth photographer I have seen a fair share of births. Hard, strenuous, and even some downright alarming births. I have also seen beautiful births. Actually, every single one of the births I have witnessed has been beautiful in its own way. Truly.
Being a part of the birth industry (as well as being a new mama again) surrounds me with both birth professionals and new moms on a regular basis. And I've noticed a growing trend that makes me happy happy!
January "Izzie" Elizabeth's Birth Story
Where to even begin?!
Literally seconds after Izzie was born, all of my anxieties and fears about labor, birth, and parenting her were washed away. Maybe it was the oxytocin, or just the mere fact that her labor experience was behind me... but I felt AH-MAZING when I finally held her in my arms! PHEW - That pregnancy was a doozy!
Let us rewind a bit... :)
